Sanctuary under the guise of so-called "scientific" whaling.

approximately 90 staff, withoffices in Whangarei, Kaitaia, Dargaville and Opua. It
administers a land area of 12,600squarekilometres (1.26 million hectares) and around
12,000 square kilometres ofcoastal waters. These waters include 15 harbours and extend
19.2 kilometres (12 nautical miles) offshore.
