The North Island Brown Kiwi,  is found only in the upper two thirds of the North Island.  They have big noses and are very tough customers .  They have to survive against many odds humans, introduced predators and the natural challenges of their often harsh existence.  The Kiwi is under threat.  Department of Conservation and many other concerned parties are very concerned about forests that once rang nightly to the call of the kiwi , are now often silent.
Department of Conservation, the Bank of New Zealand and The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society are partners in a Kiwi Recovery Programme / Home / PhotoGallery
