The VGA colour set consists of 16 colours that can always be properly rendered, regardless of the colour resolution of the user's display card. These are the only colours which can be named with the expectation that they will appear the same on all browsers and platforms.
The colour names represent zero, half and full-values (00, 80 and FF respectively) in the RGB component method. (Except Silver.)
This set of colours comes from the original IBM PC and its VGA video card and also the original Windows VGA color set.
Note that in all colour names, gray may also be spelled grey.
