Nothing stays the same forever, and this is certainly true at iGRIN.
After 4 years, we are having to bid farewell to Kim Shepherd, our
Systems Administrator, wireless guru and general font of all
internet wisdom, as he takes the next step in his career and heads
off to Hamilton. Kim is taking up a post at the Waikato University
IT Department where he will be involved in an on-line document
repository for a number of universities. This is an important
progression in his career evolvement and whilst we are sad to see
him go, we understand the limitations here at iGRIN and wish him
well in his new appointment. Kim has been a superb member of staff,
respected, admired and well-liked by customers and colleagues alike
and his calmness in the presence of catastrophe, dedication and
professionalism will be sorely missed. Our loss is Waikato
University’s fortuitous gain.
However, we have been most fortunate to secure the services of our
replacement Systems Administrator in the form of Ali Tajik who has
moved from Auckland to take up the post. Ali is highly qualified and
experienced in both server administration and ISP connectivity and
is going to be a very welcome asset to the iGRIN Team. Please give
him a great Northland welcome when you come into contact with him
and help to make him feel at home here at iGRIN.
The Olympics are now over for another four years and our personal
athlete of interest, Sam Warriner, was unfortunate not to be a medal
winner this time. But the dedication, determination and sheer guts
she has shown both in the run-up to the Olympics and in her normal
training and race preparation have proved her to be a winner in the
true sense of the word. She has set an extremely high standard for
herself and is an inspiration to so many youngsters, which is the
hallmark of a great athlete – a winner by any definition.
With a bit of luck, the worst of the bad weather is now behind us
and we can all start to look forward to warmer, sunnier, dry days
ahead. However, the scammers and phishers will still be at work,
trying to illicit information from the unwary. Just remember, no
reputable business, whether it be banking, trading or internet
related, will ask for personal details such as usernames, passwords
and bank account details via unsolicited e-mail. Nor will someone
whom you have never met or heard of, want to really give you loads
of money and you will never win a lottery that you haven’t entered.
Let’s not give these pests any satisfaction and just delete all
e-mails that we receive from senders that we don’t recognise. If it
sounds too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true.
If you’d like to bid farewell to Kim or welcome Ali, either by
e-mail, phone or in person then please do – you know where we are –
we’d love to see you.
So, from all the iGRIN Team, enjoy the Spring.
