What can I do
about Email Viruses?
We recommend that you have your own anti-virus software, but
do not use it to scan email - doing so can cause problems when
checking your email. This is a common problem with client
end anti-virus software. It is more efficient to let our
server scan your mail before it is delivered (this is done FREE
for all IGRIN users).
IGRIN's server-based anti-virus system is updated 4 times every
day and uses an industry leading anti-virus engine to protect
you from email virus threats.
What can I do about Spam (Junk Email)?
We recommend that you do not submit your email address on
the internet to untrustworthy sites, or reply to any unsolicited
spam email. This may mean that your email address is added
further to spam mailing databases.
IGRIN was the first ISP in New Zealand to offer a FREE SPAM
FILTER. To block spam from your inbox you must 'enable the
quarantine feature' by logging in with your username and
password to our Web Mail. There are many features to the
spam filter which are explained on the web mail page -

Why does my email time-out when I'm downloading?
Sometimes email clients (eg. Outlook Express) 'time-out'
when downloading due to a bad phone line and/or a corrupted or
large attachment. If you have trouble downloading emails
you can log into the web mail page to clear any large or
corrupted messages and try again.
You can also set your 'time-out' setting to long
IGRIN's web mail is fully featured with many options including:
forwarding, auto-responders, black-list, white-list and more. -

Can I check my email on more than one computer, and what is the
best way to do this?
It is best to centralise email downloads on your main
computer. If you use more than one computer or need to
check your email away from your main computer it is recommended
that you use the web mail page. This way you don't have
emails spread over different locations. The web mail can
leave messages on the server for you to download later to your
main email program eg. Outlook Express.
There is more than one person using email on our computer, what
is the best way to do this?
If you have multiple people using the same computer for
email, you have the option of using individual web mail logins,
or setting up identities/profiles in your mail program.
You can use the 'help' menu in your email program to find
information on adding 'identities' or 'profiles' for each
individual user.
